Healthy Habits

Week 1
Monday: Try a new smoothie recipe
Tuesday: Pick a new book and read for at least 20 minutes.
Wednesday: Take 15 minutes and stretch or foam roll.
Thursday: Listen to a new podcast about a skill or topic you’re interested in.
Friday: Try a healthy dinner recipe share with your family.
Saturday: Do a plank for 2 minutes (or as long as you can.)
Sunday: Digital Detox.

Week 2 
Monday: Do some spring cleaning donate anything worth giving
Tuesday: Stand instead of sit (when you can)
Wednesday: Wash your hands a minimum of 10 times.
Thursday: Try a workout you have never done before.
Friday: Write down 5 things you’re grateful for.
Saturday: Call a friend you have not talked to for a while.
Sunday: Meal plan/prep for next week.

Tuesday:  Get at least 8 hours of sleep.

Family Game Time

Week 1: MWR WordWarrior
Rules:
Make sure everyone playing has their own copy of the list below. Randomly select a letter to use. Put three-minutes on the timer. Everyone fills out their list using words that start with the chosen letter. All words should match the categories provided on the list. When the timer ends, everyone stops. Each player reads their list. Players receive one point for words that no one else has, and zero points for words that multiple players have on their list.

This week's Friday Family Fun Game is a Word Search. Using the grids below, players have three minutes to find as many words as they can. To form words, letters must be adjoined in a chain: horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Words must contain three letters. No letter cube may be used more than once in a single word.

Scoring:

  • Fewer than 3 letters: no score

  • 3 letters: 1 point
  • 4 letters: 1 point
  • 5 letters: 2 points
  • 6 letters: 3 points
  • 7 letters: 4 points
  • 8 or more letters: 11 points

Week 3: Family Feud

Rules: Try to identify the four most popular answers for each of the following rounds. Players will give answers in each round in hopes that they will say one of the top four answers. Each of the top four answers is worth a set amount of points. Players will collect points for every top four answer they guess correctly. The player with the most points wins the game!

Round 1: Name a sound you would hear a lot of at the beach.

Round 2: Name something people do in the water at a lake.

Round 3: Name something you might find in a pond that you would hate to find in your swimming pool.

The Library is now open for Pickup and Curbside Checkout! 

There are two ways to check out the books you've been waiting to read. Our Librarian explains how the new curbside and pick-up options will work and what to expect during your next visit to the Fort Riley Post Library.

Option 1: Curbside Checkout 

  1. Search the library catalog online for available books, https://mwrlibrary.armybiznet.com/search~S44
  2. Call the Fort Riley Post Library at, 785-239-5305 to reserve your items and schedule a curbside pick up time. Max of 5 items per request. 
  3. Drive to the Fort Riley Post Library for your scheduled pick-up time (5306 Hood Dr., Fort Riley, KS 66442).
  4. Call the Fort Riley Post Library at 785-239-5305 to let them know you have arrived. 
  5. Remain in your car, and an employee will deliver your items to your vehicle

CURBSIDE SERVICE HOURS: Monday-Saturday, Noon-5:30pm (All pickups must be completed by 5:30pm), Sunday 1:00pm-4:00pm (All pickups must be completed by 4:00pm)

Option 2: Lobby Checkout 

  1. Search the library catalog online for available books, https://mwrlibrary.armybiznet.com/search~S44
  2. Drive to the Fort Riley Post Library (5306 Hood Dr., Fort Riley, KS 66442)
  3. Follow safety measures while in the lobby (sanitize hands before entering, wear a face mask, and follow 6ft physical distancing)
    • Only 1 patron will be allowed in the lobby at a time
    • No browsing or computer usage will be allowed
  4. Make item request and an employee will retrieve items for you

Return Process
1. Return items to the Fort Riley Post Library and place items in the designated dropbox
2. Returned items will be quarantined for a minimum of 72 hours
before they can be checked out again.

Storytellers Project
Storytellers Project is launching a series of national virtual storytelling nights as part of the USA TODAY Network's response to the novel coronavirus.

This live show will air on network websites and social channels, including Storytellers Project's YouTube channel and Facebook page, at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on Thursday. Organizers hand-picked the best stories from more than 1,000 to be told live. Five Americans from across the country will tell a true story that affirms our most deeply held values — hope, perseverance, compassion and love.

Goodnight With Dolly
Beloved pop culture icon Dolly Parton will begin a weekly web series Thursday called "Goodnight With Dolly," where she'll read a bedtime story. Parton will read stories, pulled from her international book donation program Imagination Library, each Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT for the next 10 weeks. She'll read books "specifically chosen for their appropriate content at this unique time.
