So it’s happened again. You’re the new kid on the block. Sounds like you could use a helping-hand and a friendly-ear. We’ve got both and snacks!
Connect with us at our upcoming events:
*Events and programs are subject to change. Contact the USO Kansas for more information.
Please note: Due to distancing restrictions and safety requirements, we cannot accommodate children at this event. Please make other childcare arrangements. We appreciate your understanding. Space is limited and registration is required.
Chick-Fil-A Fridays Service members and Families are able to stop by USO Kansas the first Friday of every month to get a delicious chicken sandwich, chips, sweet, and a drink to-go for free!
Coffee Connections Once a month we host a small gathering for military spouses to connect with each other while enjoying a cup of coffee. This is a great way to network, share advice, discuss local events, and meet new friends! All spouses of currently-serving military members are welcome.
Gift the Gown Our Gift the Gown program allows the opportunity for those who are military-connected to ‘shop’ for a free gently used (or sometimes new!) dress or gown for their next upcoming formal event, whether it is a military ball, homecoming, prom or other event where formal attire is appropriate. Oftentimes, we also have shoes, handbags, and other accessories available! When available, in partnership with Fort Riley’s Army Community Service, we’ll offer a 'Ball Etiquette’ class and invite local businesses to offer beauty samples or hair and makeup tips and tricks.
Holiday Celebrations No one likes being away from family, friends, and traditions for major holidays. That’s why we try to make it easier through special events in conjunction with major U.S. holidays. Many of these – such as Halloween – are geared toward the younger audience, but there are plenty of happenings the big kids can enjoy, too. From Valentine’s Day dinners and dances to Winter Fest, the USO has got you covered.
Humpday Hotdogs What better way to get over the mid-week blahs than a chili cheese hotdog bar with all the fixings! Stop by USO Kansas for two all-beef hotdogs plus chips, a drink, and a sweet. This is a Family-friendly event that does not require registration. Must be an active duty service member or dependent to participate.
Just For You! Join us on the first Tuesday of every month for a free event that focuses on personal wellness for military spouses. Come enjoy light refreshments at the USO, games, door prizes, and most importantly, the company of other spouses!
No Dough Dinners To-Go Pick up a delicious dinner for the family for free! Open to Active Duty cardholders and their dependents. Supplies are limited. Registration required. Please only have one person per family come pick up the meal.
Single Service Member Homecoming Kits Our single service member homecoming kit program is designed to provide a welcome home bag for our single (and geographically single) service members who are returning from deployment. We aim to include basic toiletry necessities, some snacks, a thank you card from a community member and any other items we think our service members may enjoy. The items we put in the bags vary, as we rely largely on in-kind donations to complete these kits and we make our best efforts to complete each batch/order of bags with the same/comparable items. The purpose of designating these homecoming kits is to hopefully bring a smile to those who may not have family in the area to greet them or go home to and to also ensure that those returning have some of the basic necessities they need to get them through the first 24-48 hours they are home.
Taco Thursdays We've got lots to "taco 'bout" thanks to our "Taco Thursdays! On the third Thursday of each month, military service members and Families can choose between soft- or hard-shell tacos, different meats, toppings, rice and beans; we have it all, and we make it your way. Got non-taco related questions?
Take and Make Family Craft Each month, USO Kansas offers local military service members and their Families the chance to make a fun, family craft at home. Stop by the center to pick up supplies and instructions. One per family, first come, first served, while supplies last. No registration required.
